As of January 1, 2023, new legislation from the Danish Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs have come into effect. The Jewish Community in Denmark/Mosaic Religious Community is no longer an authority for issuing birth certificates, name certificates, or marriage certificates. If you need a reissued name certificate or marriage certificate, please follow the instructions below:

Requesting a New Name or Birth Certificate

If you require a new birth or name certificate, please contact borger.dk or the parish office (kordegn) of your local Church of Denmark parish. You can find contact information for your local parish at sogn.dk. If you reside abroad, you must contact the parish from which you emigrated — that is, the parish where you lived before leaving Denmark. Contact information can also be found on sogn.dk.

Requesting a New Marriage Certificate

If you need a reissued marriage certificate, please contact the marriage office in the municipality where the marriage took place. If the marriage was conducted in a synagogue, you must contact the marriage office in Copenhagen Municipality.
