The Jewish Community in Denmark embraces Jews with a wide range of beliefs and lifestyles. It serves as a broad cultural community for both religious and secular Jews.

Our strength lies in our differences, which we can use to inspire and support one another.

Strengthen your identity in the community with others

Identity is personal, but we develop it in a vibrant community based on Jewish values, religion, and culture.

Contribute to Jewish life in Denmark

Your contribution to the Jewish Community ensures that Jewish life continues in the future, with a synagogue, school, cultural activities, newsletters, membership magazine, and political advocacy.

Who can become a member?

You can become a member of the Jewish Community in Denmark if you are born of a Jewish mother or have undergone an Orthodox conversion.

How to become a member:

Print and complete the “Membership Application Form.”

Remember to sign the form and send it to mt@mosaiske.dk.

Chief Rabbi Jair Melchior must approve your membership.

If your parents are not or have never been members of the Jewish Community, documentation of your Jewish heritage may be required. In that case, we will contact you.

If you have children, remember to provide their details.

What does membership cost?

In 2023, the Danish Tax Agency decided that membership fees for religious communities like the Jewish Community must be structured differently to maintain tax deductions.

To comply with the new rules, the Jewish Community introduced an annual membership fee, which for 2023-2024 is DKK 200. This amount is not tax-deductible.

In addition to the membership fee, we encourage you to contribute a membership donation. The donation is tax-deductible.

Here are the proposed contributions for 2024.

The members’ tax-deductible contributions form the financial basis for the Jewish Community to continue its existence with a synagogue, bar/bat mitzvah, community house with activities for children, youth, and seniors, education, support for Carolineskolen, political advocacy, a burial ground, the Jewish magazine, and much more.
