Shabbatmiddag med tomme stole – vi glemmer ikke gidslerne

The Missing and Hostages Family Forum og Det Jødiske Samfund (DJS) vil gerne invitere jer alle til en Kabbalat Shabbat – den traditionelle jødiske familiemiddag – som vi afholder på Kongens Nytorv.

Den kommende fredag og lørdag (den 27-28 oktober) markerer vi, at det er tre uger siden kidnapningen af mindst 222 personer fra Israel af terrororganisationen Hamas . Der er mindst 222 børn, spædbørn, kvinder, mænd og ældre i alderen 9 måneder til 90 år, der stadig sidder som gidsler i Gaza.

Nogle af dem er syge og sårede. Vi ved ikke, hvor de befinder sig, og om de har adgang til den vigtige medicin, nogle af dem har brug for. Hamas har ikke frigivet nogen liste over gidsler eller nogen information om deres tilstand. Vi ved ikke, om familier er sammen, vi ved ikke, om alle er i live.

Shabbat er en tid, der tilbringes med familie og kære. Vi vil tilbringe denne Shabbat med at mindes dem, der holdes som gidsler i Gazastriben, og som ikke får mulighed for at tilbringe Shabbat med deres familier. Med et langt bord, hvor alle dem, der er forhindrede i at tilbringe Shabbat med deres familier, kan sidde.

Vi ved og anerkender, at der er tusindvis af uskyldige ofre i begge sider af krigen, men vi vil med denne middag opfordre til, at vi ikke glemmer de familier, hvis kære på tredje uge sidder som gidsler i Gaza – en umenneskelig skæbne, der aldrig vil kunne relativiseres eller retfærdiggøres.

Vi vil åbne installationen kl. 16.00 med en time lang Shabbat-ceremoni. Installationen og de frivillige vil derefter forblive på Kongens Nytorv indtil Shabbat slutter lørdag aften. Begivenheden er koordineret med kommunen og politiet.

Vi inviterer jer alle, uanset om I er jødiske eller ej, til at deltage og bede om deres hurtige og sikre hjemkomst.

Shabbat Evening with empty chairs – we do not forget the hostages

The Missing and Hostages Family Forum and the Danish Jewish Community (DJS) would like to invite you all to a Kabbalat Shabbat (Shabbat Service) in Kongens Nytorv.

This upcoming Saturday, we will mark three weeks to the kidnapping of at least 222 people from Israel by the terror organization Hamas to the Gaza Strip. There are at least 222 Children, babies, women, men, and the elderly, ages 9 months to 90 years old. Some of them are sick and injured. We don’t know where they are, and whether or not they have access to the critical medication some of them require. Hamas did not release any list of hostages or any information about their condition. We do not know if families are together, we do not know if all are alive.

Shabbat is a time spent with family and loved ones. We will spend this Shabbat remembering those held hostage in the Gaza Strip, who will not get to spend Shabbat with their families. With a long table, to sit all of those who are kept from spending Shabbat with their families.

We know and recognize that there are thousands of innocent victims on both sides of the war, but with this dinner, we want to urge that we do not forget the families whose loved ones are being held hostage in Gaza for the third week – an inhumane fate, that will never be relativized or justified.

We will open the installation at 16.00 with an hour-long Shabbat ceremony. The installation and volunteers will then remain at Kongens Nytorv until Shabbat ends on Saturday evening. The event is held in full coordination with the municipality and the police.

We invite all of you, Jewish or not, to join us and call for a quick and safe return home.
