Hvis det viser sig, at et ægteskab ikke fungerer, kan medlemmer af Det Jødiske Samfund få foretaget en jødisk skilsmisse: 
  • Ægteparret der ønsker skilsmisse skal være viet ved en jødisk ceremoni i Det Jødiske samfund eller en anden menighed.
  • En jødiske skilsmisse foregår ved en ceremoni, der kaldes get. Proceduren foregår ved et panel af rabbinere – en beth din – bestående af tre rabbinere, og i vidners nærværelse.
  • Hos Det Jødiske samfund kan en jødisk skilsmisse først indledes, når det tidligere ægtepar har gennemført en borgerlig skilsmisse samt opgjort alle økonomiske mellemværender.
  • Den jødiske skilsmisse skal være gennemført før man igen kan gifte sig på jødisk vis.
